Resumo

The work has as main objective to discuss the essential presence of the Africans and Luso-africans’ work in the scientific expeditions in the hinterlands of the African Continent, mainly after the publication of a legislature concerning the management of the “indigena” work on the part of the Portuguese after 1850, and mainly through the expedition of Hermenegildo Capelo e Roberto Ivens from Angola to Mozambique between 1884 – 1885. Through Social History of the Work and Social History of the Sciences we aim to give attention to the experiences and to the daily life resistances of cooks, hunters and guides in the Coast to Coast Expedition undertaken by Portuguese in the last quarter of XIXth century.
