ResumoAbstract The rise of the new interdisciplinary field of Sound Studies coincides with a new attention to formal and sonic properties of medieval German lyric. Taking songs by thirteenth-century poets Wernher von Teufen and Gottfried von Neifen as points of departure, this article argues for a methodology that puts the aesthetics of sound at the centre of their interpretation.
