ResumoFilariases are diseases caused by parasitic roundworms (nematodes) called filariae [ [1] Chandy A. Thakur A.S. Singh M.P. Manigauha A. A review of neglected tropical diseases: filariasis. Asian Pac J Trop Med. 2011; 4: 581-586 Crossref Scopus (39) Google Scholar ]. Main infections are onchocerciasis, loiasis and lymphatic filariasis. All are arthropod-borne infections, and endemic areas are mainly inter-tropical. A renewed interest in filariasis held in Europe, in connection with the recent arrival of migrants from sub-Saharan Africa. Since European medical doctors may not be not familiar with those infections, which sometimes are no more taught at Faculty of Medicine, we report our experience on filariasis, diagnosed in a French University centre through a 10-year period.
