ResumoBackground : The process of assessment and accreditation of institutions and syllabuses constitutes an indicator in university education. Objectives : To describe the results of the assessment carried out to the stomatology specialty at “Dr. Zoilo Marinello Vidaurreta” Faculty of Medical Sciences of the University of Medical Sciences of Las Tunas, taking into account the five academic years from September, 2010 to July, 2015. Methods : A descriptive investigation about the results of the assessment mentioned above. Five work teams were created to be in charge of the self-evaluation of the different variables and indicators established by the Regulations for Evaluation and Accreditation of University Studies. A documentary revision of the information from each variable and all their annexes was carried out. Results : The variables relevance and social impact showed the best results, while the variable professor was the weakest one, with no Doctor of Science, no lecturer, and a low number of associate professors, research works and participation in events. Conclusions : The main difficulties for the process of accreditation of stomatology were found in the variable professor.
