Resumo

Hot on the heels of a possible 17 keV neutrino (see Physics World March 1991 p23) comes another piece of experimental evidence which indicates that our knowledge of the fundamental particles and their interactions is incomplete. Three experimentalists working at the CERN Large Electron–Positron collider (LEP), Ugo Amaldi, Wim de Boer and Hermann Furstenau, have presented evidence for supersymmetry, a refinement of the so-called standard model of the particles and interactions which would point the way ahead to an ultimate theory of everything (Physics Letters B (1991) in press).
