Tanto el soneto y el comentario en lengua castellana forman parte de un corpus durante los siglos dieciseis y diecisiete que se mofaba de y advertia del peligro turco, sobre todo despues de la batalla de Lepanto EnglishThis article deals with an unpublished commentary in Spanish on a burlesque sonnet written in parody of the Bergasque dialect on the victory of the Holy League over the Turks in the battle of Lepanto in 1571. The short commentary offers the possibility of taking into consideration European attitudes regarding the Ottomans in the Early Modern period. Both the sonnet and the Spanish language commentary are part of an extensive corpus throughout the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries which derided and warned against the Turks especially after the battle
