José de Acosta e a fundamentação da lei natural

ResumoAbstract The work De procuranda indorum salute , by Jose de Acosta, remains unknown in the lands where its redactions were inspired. We include Acosta so as Martin de Azpilcueta, Francisco de Vitoria, Bartolomeu de Las Casas, Juan Guines de Sepulveda - and so many others writers that performed great intelectual activities about and in Latin America - in the list of “historic analphabetism”, because these authors that made so much for the thought of our continent haven't been appreciated yet. The work of Acosta differs in the use he makes of the ecclesiastical and philosophical sources as in the method in relation to, for example, Bartolomeu de Las Casas, whose completed works will be published soon. Because of that, his work deserves that we study carefully the sources as the content to answer to fundamental questions: which is the place of the “philosophy” and “theology” in Acosta's thought? Which is the value of the method and of the content propose by him to think the transmission of christianity? Here are the issues discussed in this article. Resumo A obra De procuranda indorum salute , de Jose de Acosta, permanece desconhecida nas terras que inspiraram sua redacao. Inscrevemos tanto Acosta quanto Martin de Azpilcueta, Francisco de Vitoria, Bartolomeu de Las Casas, Juan Guines de Sepulveda e tantos outros escritores que desempenharam grande atividade intelectual na e sobre a America Latina no rol do nosso “analfabetismo historico”, pois esses que tanto fizeram pelo pensamento no nosso continente ainda nao foram devidamente apreciados. A obra de Acosta difere tanto no uso que faz das fontes eclesiasticas e filosoficas quanto no metodo em relacao, por exemplo, a Bartolomeu de Las Casas, cujas obras completas estao vindo a lume. Por isso, merece que estudemos atentamente tanto as fontes quanto o conteudo para respondermos duas questoes fundamentais: qual e o lugar da “filosofia” e da “teologia” no pensamento de Acosta? Qual e o valor do metodo e o teor do conteudo propostos por ele para pensar a transmissao do cristianismo? Eis as questoes debatidas nesse artigo.
