Resumodisplay illustrations of the former president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and the first female president elected in the country, Dilma Rousseff, blindfolded with the presidential sash. Both issues, in addition to their visual similarities, keep a time gap whose journalistic items allow us to note a news reading able to "baste" discourses woven by ethical, political and gender aspects, each one organized into a web of meanings and value judgments. This paper, taking into account the several historical contexts narrated, seeks to unveil the editorial continuities and repetitions present in the construction of Veja magazine's coverage about different Brazilian historical periods pervaded by governments of a same party, the PT (Partido dos Trabalhadores, Workers Party). We wonder about the relations established between the issues in focus in order to promote a discussion on the role of the covers for the composition of a specific look regarding governments; the addressing of meanings in the dialogue between the covers and the reports; and the differences and updates on these issues, considering the different political leaders. We can also wonder about the personalization of governments as a perennial editorial strategy that points to the contradictions and interests present in the elaboration of the journalistic discourses in a communication vehicle and its interest with respect to the impeachment of a same political group.
