Resumo

OSA and GERD are highly prevalent diseases in the general population who share common risk factors such as obesity and age. The relationship between pathophysiological processes of both entities is controversial. Numerous studies find association between the two entities, but without finding a clear causal relationship. In addition, GERD has not been adequately assessed by endoscopy in patients with OSA. We studied the GER in patients with severe OSA by endoscopic placement of capsule BravoTM wireless pH monitoring. And we added the objective of evaluating at the same time the existence of esophageal lesions secondary to GER in these patients, as well as presence of hiatal hernia.
