Resumo

Creep groan is a frequently occurring low-frequency vehicle noise. It arises when vehicles with automatic transmissions start off and the service brake is slowly released; suspension components contribute to its genesis. Studies of disc brakes of cars explain how creep groan originates and permit the assessment of corrective measures. This article is the product of successful collaboration between Ford-Werke AG (Cologne), Continental-Teves AG (Frankfurt am Main) and Continental AG (Hanover and Auburn Hills).
