ResumoThe article discusses plans to build zones for economic development and employment (ZEDEs), also called charter cities or model cities, in Honduras, including in the municipality of Amapala located in the province of Valle in the Gulf of Fonseca. Topics discussed include the claimed benefits of the plans, including foreign investment, jobs, and law and order to areas of Honduras facing difficult social and economic conditions such as high poverty, murder rates, and political instability. Criticism of ZEDEs is also presented, including concerns regarding their transparency, accountability, and potential threats to sovereignty and human rights.
