In the middle of Ancien Régime a woman of royal blood, went in marriage to a man of noble family, rebels against the conventions and the labels of the court. The marriage of Margherita d'Orléans and Cosimo III de' Medici will talk throughout Europe. In this paper, thanks to new archival sources, is presented through the use of historiographical category of gender the affair of this woman and her interpretations historical and political.
