Durante a ocupacao holandesa na Capitania de Pernambuco, entre os anos de 1630 e 1645, diversos povos se instalaram nessa regiao como os neerlandeses protestantes, os portugueses catolicos, os judeus de diferentes lugares, que vinham fugindo da inquisicao, e os indios locais. Na tentativa de melhor administrar o territorio e sua populacao tao diversificada os batavos se propuseram, primeiramente, a descrever aqueles povos que estavam em seu dominio. Nesse sentido, o presente artigo pretende mapear, a partir de alguns escritos sobre o Brasil Holandes, desde relatos de viagens ate a registros politicos como o do proprio Conde Joao Mauricio de Nassau – que governou por oito anos (1637-1644) –, como os holandeses perceberam e administraram a diversa populacao daquelas terras no decorrer de seu dominio.ABSTRACT:During the dutch occupation in the province of Pernambuco, between 1630 and 1645, several people have settled in this region as the protestants dutchs, catholics portugueses, jews from different places, fleeing the inquisition, and the local indians. In an attempt to better manage the region and its diversified population, the Dutch have proposed to describe those people who were in your domain. In this sense, this article aims to describe from some writings on the Dutch Brazil, from travel accounts to the political records as himself the Count John Maurice of Nassau – that was there for nine years (1637-1645) – how the Dutch notice and managed so diferent people in the course of their domain.KEYWORDS: Brazil Dutch – several peopel – Nassau.
