A pesquisa realizada com caranguejos e caranguejeiros na cidade de Bragança-PA teve como intencionalidade inicial aproximar-se da atividade dos tiradores de caranguejos da região para conhecer suas práticas e saberes relacionados ao trabalho de extração, a força dos mitos e as possíveis mudanças ambientais acompanhadas por esses trabalhadores. Entretanto, nossa aproximação nos levou para uma reflexão diferenciada que envolve os seres humanos, os mangues e os caranguejos, esses últimos destacados como o centro de redes de relações que envolvem também questões ambientais, sociais, políticas e econômicas. Estudar esses não humanos em suas relações com humanos e com o ambiente, possibilitou entender dinâmicas de socialidade que regem a vida desses diferentes sujeitos em suas complexas relações cotidianas.Palavras-Chave: Caranguejo. Homem.Reflections about men, mangroves and crabs in Bragança-PAAbstractThis research on crabs and crabbers from the town of Bragança-PA initially aimed to approach the crabbers’ activity in the region in order to know their practices and knowledges related to the extractive activity, to the power of myths and to the possible environmental changes witnessed by these workers. However, this approach has led us to a different reflection which involves human beings, mangroves and crabs, the latter two highlighted as the center of a relationship network that also involves environmental, social, political and economic matters. Studying this non-human, and its relationship with the humans and with the environment, it was possible to understand the dynamics of sociability that rule the life of these different subjects in their complex daily relationships.Keywords: Crab.
