espanolLa actual poblacion de Jerez de los Caballeros fue donada por el rey Enrique II a la Orden de Santiago en diciembre de 1370, sin embargo la villa de “Xerez cerca Badajoz” no entro a formar parte del senorio santiaguista hasta junio de 1371. En este trabajo profundizamos en los motivos que tuvo el rey para tal donacion, en las razones que hubo para tal retraso, en los detalles de la toma de posesion por parte del maestre Fernando Osorez, y en las mercedes que este concedio a la villa. Todo ello sin olvidar el contexto politicomilitar del momento, situacion que afecto directamente a la tenencia del castillo jerezano. EnglishThe current population of Jerez de los Caballeros was donated by King Henry II to the Order of Santiago in December 1370, but the village of “ Xerez near Badajoz “ not joined the santiaguista dominion until June 1371. In this I work deeper into the motives of the king for such donation in the reasons for the delay there was , in the details of the takeover by the master Fernando Osorez, and the favors he granted the town. Not forgetting the military-political context of the moment, a situation which directly affected the tenure of Jerez castle.
