ResumoIntroduction: Facing the challenge of improving the human being health care, respecting the integrality as proposed by the National Curriculum Guidelines for Undergraduate Program in Medicine, many educational institutions have included spirituality activities as the health education component, which is a reality in 40.0% of the Brazilian medical schools. Objectives: This study aimed to describe the perspective of those medical students of the first four years of the course of the Faculdade Pernambucana de Saúde about the Transversal Module in Spirituality and Health, to describe the approach of this axis-themed, along the academic education and describe those spiritual and religious dimensions. Methods: Therefore, a cross-sectional study was performed through the answers of a semi-structured and self-administered questionnaire. Results: The acceptance of the Transversal Module in Spirituality and Health was considered satisfactory.More than 80.0% of the participating students conceptualized the module as 'good' or 'very good' and almost all of them (96.30%) reported that participation in the module will influence their future medical practice. However; a minority reported that this subject had previously been addressed by tutors along the course. For 51.10% of students who felt discouraged from addressing spirituality in patient care, the lack of practical training would be the main obstacle. Conclusions: Therefore, transversality, as proposed by that module, appears as a viable alternative to facilitate the insertion of spirituality contingent on educational practices in health in coordination with the other components of the overall curriculum of health in undergraduate courses.
