ResumoA new lower Cretaceous coral, Heliopora japonica Eguchi, the oldest known representative of the genus, is described. The present day ecological conditions observed in the South Sea islands are thought to be applicable to the lower Cretaceous Coral formation of the Miyako region, Iwate prefecture, Japan.
