Resumo

Lighting requirement is different during day and night inside a tunnel. During nighttime, the tunnel has to be lit with same lighting level of the approach and exit road from the tunnel. During daytime, as a driver enters the relatively dark tunnel from a bright sunlit outside he is supposed to face adaptation problem as adaptation from high to low level of luminance doesn't take place instantaneously. To overcome this problem, the tunnel entrance has to be lit heavily compared to the part that is remotely inside the tunnel. The goal is to do a tunnel lighting design, for Sikanderpur Underpass which is 560 m long, which can facilitate proper adaptation and visually safe driving condition for a driver.
