O espírito capitalista nas músicas de Thalles Roberto

A musica tem exercido um papel fundamental nas celebracoes culticas do povo cristao desde seus primordios. Aquilo que no passado se restringia aos espacos sagrados invadiu, na atualidade, o mercado fonografico, tornando-se um estilo musical conhecido como gospel. Esse mercado tem sido invadido por letras que tem se distanciado cada vez mais das mensagens biblicas genuinas, chegando ate mesmo a distorce-las. Tem sido muito frequente nessas letras o que podemos chamar de “espirito capitalista”. Este artigo se propoe, primeiramente, a fazer um breve historico da musica na tradicao biblico-crista para em seguida passar a abordar o espirito capitalista com base em Max Weber e a Karl Marx. A discussao se limitara ao contexto da musica gospel no Brasil, e trataremos especificamente sobre ate que ponto o espirito capitalista tem permeado as musicas do cantor gospel Thalles Roberto. Music has played a fundamental role in the worship celebrations of the Christian people since the Church was founded. That which in the past was restricted to sacred places has invaded, in modern times, the phonographic market, and has become a music style known as gospel music. Such market has been invaded by lyrics increasingly far away from genuine biblical messages to the point of even twisting them. It is very frequent in these lyrics what we can call as “capitalist spirit”. This article aims, fist, at presenting a brief survey of music in the biblical-Christian tradition, and, second, at dealing with the capitalist spirit based on Max Weber and Karl Marx. The discussion is limited to the Brazilian gospel music setting, and we will specifically investigate to what extent such capitalist spirit has permeated the songs of the Brazilian gospel singer Thalles Roberto.
