ResumoThis papers aims to analyze the contemporary Brazilian shipbuilding regional decentralization by focusing on sectorial recovery process which occurred between 1997-2014. Since late 1990, a set of public policies has driven shipbuilding industry in Brazil supporting that recovery process marked by both sectorial output growth and decentralization. Main industrial plants were analyzed on technological changes as well employment and output growth since RAIS/MTE basedata. Although regional decentralization has come with production deconcentration towards new yards within Brazilian territory, the paper shows Rio de Janeiro state still as the main core of national shipbuilding industry due its set of yards and expertise and knowledge consolidated over the 20th century decades.
