ResumoThis text seeks to offer a reflection on the musical production in Brazil based on the testimonials of some prominent professionals from this area. It seeks to discuss not only the growing role of division of work and the importance of technological renewal in the industry for adding value to this profession, but also the range of approaches professionals can use in the process of producing a song. It focuses on producers who started their careers in the 1970s and 1980s, and who took part in the process of consolidating the profession in a moment of great commercial and artistic valuing of the MPB
