Resumo

The present research was conducted in the Setor de Sericicultura of the Faculdade de Ciencias Agrarias e Veterinarias - Campus de Jaboticabal - UNESP during March-April of 1987 with the purpose of determining the effects of different types fertilization mulberry in the development of the silkglands of the silkworms in the course of 5 th instar. The following treatments were studied: control (without fertilization); organic fertilization; chemical fertilization in the soil; and foliar fertilization. The parameters obtained by the direct measurement of the silkglands were: lenght of the silkgland; diameter of the middle portion; diameter of the posterior portion; and weight of the silkglands. In the study of the glandular section the following parameters were determined: area of the secretory layer and area of the storage region of the middle portion, and area of the secretory layer and area of the storage region of the posterior portion. In the results it was observed major development of the silkglands of the larvae of the silkworms feed with leaves from plants receiving organic fertilization and with small inferiority the chemical fertilization in the soil. The foliar fertilization surpassed the control in only some parameters.
