ResumoThis paper seeks from the historical analysis of the colonization of the North of Parana, focusing the town of Mandaguari, to understand the planning of a network of cities which endured the British influence on introducing the model of the garden cities. In this context, from literature review and reflection about these themes, the aim of this investigation was to identify and comprehend the importance of green areas in the period of colonization. From the green belts previously defined in order to limit the growth of the cities as well as integrate the activities city-country, noticed the aim was not achieved, because the cities were organized in an isolated way, the systematization of the large properties and the farming mechanization caused the demographic process in the small towns, such as Mandaguari, towards the medium and large urban centers. The urbanization process determined the changes in the laws on using and occupying the land and the uncontrolled expansion of the cities causing important environmental damages and landscape disharmony. Therefore, it is necessary the development of research which enables new intervention to improve the environmental quality in order to improve the life quality of the related communities in the collective and equality perspective.
