The steering with the internal development name “APA-BS” (Axially Parallel Actuation-Braun- Schweig) is a proprietary development of the Volkswagen AG, Braunschweig. This paper portrays the concept that offers a shock free, sensitive, precise, and powerful steering performance. The newly developed electromechanical steering is being used firstly in the new Volkswagen compact-SUV, the Tiguan.
