Resumoform of the mushroom Ganoderma Lucidum known as "Gano Café" is replacing the traditional cup of coffee at breakfast in Latin America. We presented a case of fulminant hepatic failure in a previously healthy 67 years old female. The single risk factor identified was the daily intake of Gano Café 1 week prior to clinical onset.Since its commercialization is not controlled due to the misconception that it is a new variety of coffee, it requires targeted interventions cultural-based to be addressed. We can estimate that the affected population is much greater taking into account that we only see a small percentage that is referred for LT.
