ResumoEurypterids are abundant at only 2 horizons in the Bertie Formation; in the Williamsville member of western New York and at the top of the Fiddlers Green member in central parts of the state. Four species of Pterygotus have been reported. One is restricted to the Williamsville, 2 are found in the Fiddlers Green. The fourth is known chiefly from the Williamsville but a recently discovered specimen is believed to come from a lower horizon. A new specimen of Pterygotus (Acutiramus) macrophthalmus Hall exhibits previously unknown morphological details of the free ramus.
