This article investigates concepts about mathematical imaginary at work Aritmetica da (Emilia´s Arithmetic) by brazilian writer Monteiro Lobato. Indeed, book show us some expressions such as the country of mathematics, the land of numbers in reference to Arithmetic. In fact, title of book, composed by these two expressions, term and Emilia suggest. In words of Lobato, arithmetic is one of buds of a sour Orange named mathemathics. However, too much reason could not interest public which Lobato intended his book - children. So name of that romance is linked to term Emilia to sweeten with spice of living and questioning imagination, sour rigor of science. Arithmetic of Viscount would be a redundant expression, because this character is a symbol of scientific thought in writer's work. Certainly, throughout novel, who plays role of class teacher is Viscount. However, arithmetic comes out under name of which changed name of true author in manuscripts of arithmetic.
