ResumoIn August 1958 on Mansel Island and during the following month on Sugluk Island, W.E. Taylor discovered two human mandibles in Dorset cultural contexts. During the previous year in July he found other Dorset human skeletal remains at the Imaha site near Payne Bay. These consisted of a cranium, mandible and parts of the post-cranial skeleton. The Payne Bay skull is morphologically and metrically Eskimo in all its salient features thereby shedding light on the racial affinities of the Dorset people for the first time since Jenness discovered the culture in 1925.
