Smart Cities and Technologies

The last publication of URBS. Journal of Urban Studies and Social Sciences was a monographic issue on Smart Cities: realities and utopias of a new urban imaginary. I would like to establish a parallelism of this last edition of the journal with my own Master Degree research which I am carrying out in Brazil. I approach issues such as the context smart cities originate in, the imaginary that build up around the term “smart city” and how much of smart is really built in the cities. In addition, I discuss the question of big data and its technological applications, above all, in new possibilities for social development in the postmodern city.
