ResumoEste artigo trata da Cristandade latina pos-Reforma e das medidas tomadas pela Igreja atraves dos cânones do IV Concilio de Latrao (1215), que estabelece nao somente uma nova forma de lidar com o pecado, mas tambem procura definir a figura diabolica. Alem disto, e abordado o surgimento, neste contexto, dos Frades Pregadores, que se notabilizam pela reformulacao da pregacao e por sua insercao nas cidades. Novas formulacoes doutrinarias e praticas religiosas se estabelecem, dando destaque a atuacao do Diabo e as formas de combate-lo. A Ordem Dominicana, nesse sentido, possui um papel central no combate ao mal. Pregadores, confessores e inquisidores, aos Dominicanos cabe alertar, ensinar, combater os demonios e punir os desvios. Abstract : This article discusses post-Reformation Latin Christianity and the measures taken by the Church through the canons of the Fourth Lateran Council (1215), which establishes not only a new way of dealing with sin, but also defines the Devil. In addition, we analyze the emergence, in this context, of the Friars Preachers, who are notable for the reformulation of the preaching and for their insertion in the cities. New doctrinal formulations and religious practices are established, giving prominence to the Devil's performance and ways of fighting it. The Dominican Order, in this sense, has a central role in the fight against evil. Preachers, confessors and inquisitors, the Dominicans must warn, teach, combat the demons and punish deviations.
