The musical dynamics for sensitizing for nursing students to palliative care in pediatric oncology was the object of this study, which aimed to apply a musical dynamics as a way to sensitize nursing students in palliative care in pediatric oncology and to discuss the use of dynamics as a strategy to raise the awareness of nursing students about palliative care in pediatric oncology. Qualitative research with a Creative and Sensitive Method, carried out at the nursing school of a Federal University, located in Rio de Janeiro. Participants in the survey were 10 nursing students, who were attending the last graduation period. Data collection was performed in October 2016, through the dynamics entitled Corpo-musical. The research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee under No. 1,786,838. The speeches of the participants were transcribed in their entirety and analyzed through thematic analysis. The results pointed to the use of dynamics as a way of raising the awareness of academics for palliative care in pediatric oncology. They emphasized the importance of the dynamics of care practice and its contribution to restoring care quality, as well as invigorating the health team. They emphasized the need for the professional to have empathy and addressed the fragmentation of the disciplines, the lack of preparation and lack of opportunity to experience pediatric oncology and grief, bringing the dynamics as a way of approaching the practice. The dynamics favored the reflection on coping strategies in the final moment of life, pointing out the presence of the nurse and the act of talking with the patient and family to try to improve the quality of life of the patient. Participants emphasized the possibility of using the musical dynamics in professional practice, emphasizing the benefits of self care that it brought, such as relaxation, calmness and made it easier to think about therapeutic possibilities. It is concluded that the musical dynamics has proven to be an adequate strategy to raise the awareness of nursing academics for palliative care in pediatric oncology, awakening in them the reflection for a more careful care and the need to approach the theme throughout the training process , longitudinally.
