ResumoIn The Front, his 1976 film about the Hollywood blacklist, Woody Allen saved one detail until the closing credits. As the names of cast and crew appear on screen, many are accompanied by the word “blacklisted” and the year in which the anti-Communist purge denied them work in the American film industry: we learn that director Martin Ritt, writer Walter Bernstein, and actors Zero Mostel, Herschel Bernardi, and Lloyd Gough all suffered.
