Percurso revisitado: o ensino de enfermagem no Brasil

Resumo

O presente artigo analisa o ensino de enfermagem no Brasil, a partir de 1923, quando o Departamento Nacional de Saude Publica do Rio de Janeiro fundou a primeira escola de enfermagem do pais. Apos um breve percurso no tempo, identificando suas fases mais significativas, centra a atencao nas duas ultimas decadas (80-90), quando a enfermagem iniciou a construcao de seu projeto politico pedagogico, articulado a discussao acerca da Reforma Sanitaria brasileira e ao projeto de redemocratizacao da sociedade. Esse contexto propiciou a abertura e ampliacao de um grande debate, incluindo professores, estudantes, enfermeiros de servicos, entre outros segmentos, sob a coordenacao da ABEn. Apesar de todas as dificuldades vivenciadas nesse processo, o fato de ter tido uma participacao coletiva configura um avanco politico da enfermagem, antes nao registrado em sua historia. Nessa perspectiva, esse esforco coletivo deve contribuir para um maior compromisso dos envolvidos na continua reconstrucao do ensino e da profissao.Abstract:This article analyzes the teaching of nursing in Brazil from 1923 on, when the National Department ofPublic Health in Rio de Janeiro founded the first nursing school in the country. After a brief review of time and the identification of its most significant phases, the paper focuses on the last two decades (80 and 90), when nursing initiated the construction of its political-pedagogic project along with the discussion about Brazilian Health Reform and the project for the redemocratization of society. This context propitiated the opening and the amplification of a great debate coordinated by the ABEn that included, among other segments, professors, students, and nurses in service centers. Despite the difficulties experienced in the process, the fact that this was a collective effort configured a political advance for nursing, which had not been registered previously in its history. In that perspective, this collective effort should contribute to a greater commitment of those involved in the continued reconstruction of teaching and of the nursing profession.Key-words: Teaching of nursing.
