Resumo

Teak (Tectona grandis) wood has been recognized for centuries as the finest hardwood in the world because of its strength, durability. pest and fot resistance, attractiveness and workability. The most serious insect pest all teak is the teak defoliator Hyblaea puera Cramer (Lepidoptcra: Hyblaeidae). It feeds on all the leaf tissues leaving only the harder veins. Apart from teak, there are large number of alternative host plants for this polyphagous caterpillar.
