ResumoThis article analyzes the uses of the word «gorilla» in Argentine politics and its constitution as a signifier with powerful interpellation capacity. The term, originated as a way of naming the violence of the otherness to the peronism, recognizes a double dimension. On the one hand, it identifies a political-economic project in favor of the national and foreign dominant sectors. On the other, it denounces an attitude of contempt and incomprehension towards popular culture and the political forms of the subordinate sectors. Both dimensions constitute controversies in which different political spaces use the term to classify or declassify (with).
