ResumoResumo: As tematicas abordadas por Dias Gomes na telenovela O Bem-Amado suscitaram representacoes criticas da sociedade e politica brasileira nos anos iniciais da decada de 1970. Objetiva-se neste trabalho identificar e compreender as imagens e representacoes encetadas pela obra, sobretudo, no que diz respeito aos elementos estruturais e a dinâmica da vida politica e social brasileira, que representaram a transicao da estrutura rural ao pretendido processo modernizador conduzido pelo regime militar. Como o principal eixo de analise, sera tomada a representacao dos valores que denotam o tradicional e rural em oposicao ao moderno e urbano . Abstrac: The themes addressed by Dias Gomes in the soap opera O Bem-Amado raised critical representations of society and Brazilian politics in the early years of the decade of 1970. The objective of this study is to identify and understand the images and representations present in this work, especially regarding the structural elements and dynamics of politics and society in Brazil, which represented the transition from a rural structure to the modernizing process intended by the military regime. The main axis of analysis will be the representation of values which denote the traditional and rural in opposition to modern and urban ones.
