ResumoMirinzal is situated in a region called the Amazonia Maranhense, ecologically important but poorly conserved, where there is only one study on bryophytes. This study aims to investigate the richness and ecological aspects (ecosystem and substrate) of bryophytes in Timbo farm, Terra Firme forest in the municipality of Mirinzal, Maranhao. In total, nine families, 26 genera, and 47 species where registered, of which fi ve are new occurrences for Maranhao, and Cololejeunea sintenisii (Steph.) Steph. is a new record for the Brazilian Northeast. The inexistence of differences in species richness and the high similarity of species composition among the studied trails indicate environmental degradation, common to the Amazonia Maranhense.
