This paper compares the political engagements of football supporters involved in the initiatives Zajedno za Dinamo (Together for Dinamo) and Naš Hajduk (Our Hajduk). Both associations belong to the new set of fan practices in Croatia, having initiated activities spanning across the vast area of society and politics. These have included initiatives for changes to the legal system, for the decommercialization of football, for the democratization of sporting institutions, etc. The research confirmed that clubs are still important aspects of local identity in Croatia. This article also tries to present why supporter groups and their causes should be taken seriously by granting them what Herbert Blumer calls ‘a depth of the cause’.
