ResumoThis paper analyzes the Ariano Suassuna's text O Auto da Compadecida , searching for popular theological themes and setting them into a dialogue with the official Catholic and Protestant theologies. Popular theology has been the belief that supplies the popular religiosity present in inland communities, which are distant from the managers of the official religion.
