Resumo: A proposta deste artigo e discutir a relacao existente entre as obras de cunho historico e os fundamentos ideologicos da monarquia medieval castelhana no seculo XIII. Para tanto, cabe aqui ressaltar que, durante este periodo, o poder regio dedicou-se a produzir uma serie de documentos em lingua vulgar, sendo o proprio vernaculo adotado como idioma oficial dos tratados politicos desta epoca. Dentre esta producao documental, destacamos as obras de cunho historico, que, juntamente com as demais producoes escritas patrocinadas pela autoridade monarquica, veicularam uma serie de enunciados discursivos sobre a propria instituicao regia e sobre os detentores da dignidade real castelhano-leonesa. Caberia ao historiador refletir sobre os objetivos de tais ideias, bem como quais seriam as bases que sustentavam estas construcoes dentro da sociedade. Abstract: The purpose of this paper is to discuss the relationship between the historical chronicles and the ideological foundations of medieval Castilian monarchy in the 13 th century. It is appropriate to point out that during that period the monarchy was dedicated to produce a series of documents in the vernacular, and the vernacular itself was adopted as the official language of political treaties at the time. Within this production we highlight the royal chronicles, which, among other written works sponsored by the monarchical authority, disseminated a series of discursive statements about the monarchy itself and the holders of royal titles in Castile and Leon. It behooves the historian to ponder the objectives of such ideals, as well as what would be the foundations to support these constructions within society.
