ResumoPortuguese Abstract: A Politica Agricola Comum – PAC – foi instituida com as Comunidades Economicas Europeias a partir da adocao do Tratado de Roma em 1957 para a garantia da seguranca alimentar no continente e e vista como um pilar basico da integracao dessa regiao. O seu desenvolvimento decorre da propria evolucao do bloco europeu, bem como da evolucao do comercio internacional, exigindo outras/novas condutas por parte dos paises europeus. Por isso, ao longo dos anos, a PAC sofreu diversas modificacoes estruturais importantes, as quais transformaram as formas em que o fomento agricola e repassado aos agricultores, na tentativa de se tornar menos agressiva aos olhares da sociedade internacional. Assim, este artigo tem como objetivo abordar essas relacoes, desde a importância da agricultura para a formacao da Uniao Europeia, como tambem as modificacoes inseridas na PAC em virtude nos novos arranjos regionais e mundiais. English Abstract: The Common Agricultural Policy – CAP – was established with the European Economic Community by the adoption of the Treaty of Rome in 1957, in order to ensure the continent’s food security, being it a basic pillar to this region’s integration. Its development follows the evolution of the European Bloc as well as the changes in international trade, requiring other/new behaviors by the European countries. Thus, over the years, the CAP has undergone several significant structural changes, which have transformed the way subsidies are passed on to farmers, in an attempt to become less aggressive to the eyes of international society. Hence, this paper aims to address these topics, from the importance of agriculture to the European Union establishment to the changes inserted into the CAP due to new regional and global arrangements.
