ResumoThe objective of this study is to develop an approach to the mechanisms of representation of the real, acting in the reality TV format of The Voice Brazil program under the semiotic perspective of Charles Sanders Peirce. The program is based on a musical competition between several anonymous singers, selected by public auditions, in several regions in the country where the program is broadcast. In the semifinal stages, the external public actively follows and decides with phrases and opinions, who will be the candidate that will participate in the grand finale. Before this study, the objective is to answer the question: What iconic, indicial or symbolic signs does the reality TV program show in its representation of the real? To answer this question the elements of analysis of the three dimensions of significance of the Peirceana tricotomy, Firstness, Secundity and Thirdness will be addressed. A phenomenon like the one studied here evidences the three types of signs, by definition, they always act the three in the world of life and in the world of culture.
