Resumo: Comecando seu artigo, o autor o sintetiza com o titulo do qual foi merecedor Dom Afonso: “pai do Regional Sul IV”, tal o empenho que ele demonstrou pela sua instalacao em janeiro de 1970, com todas as providencias anteriores necessarias. A seguir, o autor sintetiza as 16 assembleias da CNBB no Estado, das quais Dom Afonso participou como Presidente, isto e, desde 1970 ate 1986. Fala das caracteristicas de Dom Afonso como “pai e companheiro”, incluindo alguns detalhes pitorescos da convivencia com ele. Abstract: At the beginning, the author synthesizes his article in his title attributing to Don Afonso the well deserved appellation as the “father of Regional South IV”. In fact he was eager to get it implanted in January of 1970 after all kinds of provision have been taken care of. In the sequel, the author makes a brief synthesis of all 16 assemblies of CNBB held in the State which Don Afonso presided from 1970 till 1986. He singles out his personality as “father and companion”, adding some picturesque details of his lifestyle.
