ResumoAlternative journalism has been present since the beginning of what is understood as journalism, looking more closely at the Brazilian context.Currently, there is a significant increase in alternative journalism initiatives.With the objective of contributing to the debate regarding current journalism, we present a study that seeks to substantiate what can be understood as alternative journalism, considering its conceptual genesis and the factors that favor its diffusion today.In this sense, it is a methodological proposal whose intention is to guide the perception about what these initiatives are and what they represent.
