Resumo: O autor parte dos dois simbolos da autoridade dos Bispos, salientando em Dom Joaquim a Mitra da autoridade e, em Dom Afonso, o Baculo do pastor. Quanto a Dom Joaquim, recorda o “decalogo de sua missao”, exposto na carta pastoral de saudacao aos seus diocesanos, em 1914. Comenta uma de suas visitas pastorais ao sul do Estado, quando realizou-se o “Congresso Catequistico Paroquial” de Nova Veneza, em 1941. Ressalta tambem a fidelidade de Dom Joaquim, especialmente atraves dos sermoes meticulosamente preparados, a sua missao de proclamar a verdade da Fe. Quanto a Dom Afonso, o inicio do seu pastoreio, em 1965, coincidindo com os novos ares do Concilio Vaticano II. Na linha da “evangelizacao-servico”, Dom Afonso nao se furtou a atender aos mais diversos eventos de cidadania que lhe solicitaram a palavra. Abstract: The author starts by commenting about two symbols of the authority of the bishops, stressing the mitre of authority in Don Joaquim and the staff of the shepherd in Don Afonso. As regards Don Joaquin he recalls the “Decalogue of his mission” published in the pastoral letter of his greeting addressed to the members of his diocese in 1914, in a comment about his pastoral visits to the South of the territory on the occasion of the “Parochial Congress of Catechists” in Nova Veneza, in 1941. Something quite outstanding in Don Joaquim is his mission to proclaim the truth of faith in his sermons meticulously prepared. As regards Don Afonso, mention is made at the beginning of his bishopric in 1965, coinciding with the new tendencies of the II Vatican Council. By stressing the aspect of service rendered by the evangelization, Don Afonso didn’t neglect attending the most different events of citizenship which begged for his words of guidance.
