Resumo: O artigo pretende, modestamente, focalizar a relacao dos dois bispos com a realidade da presenca da Vida Religiosa em nossa Igreja arquidiocesana. Faz uma breve referencia a essa presenca historica na vida da Igreja, passando em seguida a ver a relacao de cada um dos arcebispos com as congregacoes e institutos concretos nesta concreta Igreja Particular. No tocante a Dom Afonso, sublinha a presenca da VR na sua biografia, desde a infância, com destaque para a experiencia da caminhada vocacional de sua irma. Cita palavras suas referentes a nova visao da VR no pos-Concilio e, nesse contexto, fala do surgimento de um novo grupo religioso na arquidiocese, como tambem do seu empenho pela instalacao dos dois carmelos de vida contemplativa. Conclui com a referencia ao acervo de correspondencias dos dois bispos com membros das congregacoes na arquidiocese. Abstract: The present article modestly aims to focus on the relationship of the two bishops with the reality of Religious Life in our archdiocesis. It starts with a brief reference to this historic presence in the Church and subsequently points out the relationship of each of the two archbishops with the concrete religious congregations present in our concrete Church. It underlines the presence of RL in the biography of Dom Afonso since childhood, mainly because of his sister´s vocational way. By quoting his sight of post-conciliar RL, he also refers to the beginning of a new religious group in the archdiocesis and to his efforts in order to installing two carmels of contemplative life. At the end it still refers to the rich archive of correspondences of both bishops with the members of religious congregations.
