Abstract Outcrops of lower Cretaceous deposits at the base of the continental Oligocene beds in the Forcalquier basin (Basses-Alpes, France), apparently overlying Cenomanian (middle Cretaceous) deposits, are described. Their occurrence is probably due to superfical gravity sliding of material from elements of a pre-Oligocene relief which has subsequently been obliterated.
