Resumo: Antes de abordar a figura dos homenageados, o conferencista desenvolve o tema da memoria, tao importante para a identidade de um povo, a comecar do povo biblico do Antigo e do Novo Testamento. E em obediencia ao dever da memoria que celebramos os centenarios destes nossos pais na fe, os dois Arcebispos cujo ministerio se estendeu por quase oitenta anos, ocupando quase todo o seculo XX, e deixando imorredouro testemunho de cultura, misericordia e simplicidade. Abstract: Before concentrating on the persons of the two Bishops, the lecturer develops the theme of the memory, so important for the identity of a people, beginning vith the biblical people of the Old and the New Testament. In fact, it is in obedience to the duty of memory that we celebrate the centennials of these our fathers in the Faith, both the Archbishops whose ministry spreaded out for almost eighty years, occupying almost all of the XX century, and leaving to us an immortal testimony of culture, mercy and simplicity.
