Resumo: O relato da separação entre o Povo Eleito e o Estado de Israel constanos livros da Bíblia, que narram, de primeira mão, os acontecimentos históricos ecitam a Deus como testemunha de quem os causou. Os líderes de Israel instituíramuma liturgia em memória da catástrofe nacional, para reparação da culpa pelastransgressões, e para reconciliação dos remanescentes com Deus, valendo-se danova Aliança apregoada pelo profeta Jeremias, e instituída por Deus com os sobreviventesdo Povo Eleito. A insigne tarefa que lhes foi incumbida era a de constituíremuma comunidade de fé, que fosse emancipada do Estado teocrático de Israel, semo respaldo de qualquer instituição estatal. Era o paradigma da religião revelada, aser implantada entre todos os povos para a salvação da humanidade.Abstract: The separation between the Chosen People and the State of Israel isnarrated in the account of the destruction of Jerusalem and the deportation of itscitizens, extant in the Bible, which attributes the cause to external aggression withno connection with a political or social turmoil from within the nation. The leadersof Israel instituted a memorial liturgy to be held in memory of the national disaster,in order to make reparation of the transgressions and to reconcile with God all theinhabitants, by means of the new Covenant sealed by the prophet Jeremiah andratified by God on behalf of the survivors of the Chosen People. The immensetask imposed on them was to establish a faith community framed in a new socialand political setting, free from the framework of the theocratic State of Israel andemancipated from the tutelage of any kind of Jewish national institution so that thebiblical religion to be implanted from now on was to be presented to all peoplesand nations as the only paradigm for the salvation of humankind.
