Resumo: Esta homilia, breve e despretensiosa, reproduz o que Dom Afonso expos oralmente a uma comunidade paroquial de periferia em Curitiba, PR, em 1970. Nela, Dom Afonso explica os pontos essenciais para a compreensao do sacerdocio ministerial, a luz do Concilio Vaticano II. Ele comeca distinguindo os dois sacerdocios: o comum, batismal, e o hierarquico, ministerial. Fala tambem dos varios ministerios, entre os quais situa-se o ministerio sacerdotal do Bispo e o do Padre, alem do ministerio do Diacono, terceiro grau do sacramento da Ordem. Como o Bispo, tambem o Padre santifica, apascenta e rege o povo de Deus. E atraves deles que a Igreja realiza a sua missao de salvacao. Abstract: This brief and straightforward homily renders verbally the words which Don Afonso pronounced in a parochial community located at the periphery of Curitiba in 1970. In a nutshell, he explains the essential points for understanding the ministry of priesthood detailed in the documents of the II Vatican Council. He begins by focusing on two kinds of priesthood: the common one based on the charisma bestowed by baptism and hierarchical which is conferred upon candidates for ecclesial ministry. The deaconate is defined as the third rank of the sacrament of priesthood. Like the bishop so the priest sanctifies and governs as well the people of God. It’s by means of these ministries that the Church carries into effect the work of salvation
